Privacy

luos.fyi is a small, invite-only place where family and friends share everyday moments, things they learned, and their dreams. This page explains in plain words what the site keeps and what other people can see.

What anyone can see

• Posts in Blogs, Learning and Dreams are public. Anyone on the internet can read them without logging in, and they can show up in search engines like Google.
• Photos added to posts are public too.
• Each post shows the author's name and the date.
• Only share what you are happy for everyone to see. Never post your address, school, phone number or passwords.

What is kept private

• Your login ID, email address and birthday are never shown on posts. Only you and the site admin can see them.
• Your birthday is used only to choose age-suitable jokes, quotes and Happy answers. Happy is the site helper.
• Your password is stored in a scrambled (hashed) form, so nobody can see it, not even the site admin.
• What you type to Happy is not saved. Happy's answers are worked out in your browser, and your messages are not sent to the server.

What the site keeps

• Your account: your ID, name, email, birthday and password, entered on the sign-up page.
• Your posts: the text, titles, links and photos you add.
• Photos: before a photo is saved, its location (GPS) and camera details are removed, and very large photos are made smaller.
• Your choices: your theme and language are saved in your browser, and in your account when you are logged in.
• Cookies: luos.fyi uses five small cookies, only to make the site work:
  • a login cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 14 days
  • a "signed in" hint (just the number 1, nothing personal) so the home page can show your dashboard button, also for up to 14 days
  • a security cookie that protects the forms
  • your theme and your language, each saved for 1 year
  There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking cookies.
• Login protection: to stop people from guessing passwords, failed login attempts are briefly linked to the IP address and ID used, and deleted after 15 minutes.
• Server logs: like most websites, the web server keeps standard access logs, which include IP addresses. These are kept for about 15 days and then deleted automatically. The site admin can also see visit summaries made from them.

Joining

• luos.fyi is invite only. There is no public sign-up.
• The site admin creates a personal sign-up link, which works once and expires after 24 hours.
• No confirmation email is sent. The site does not send any emails right now.

Changing or deleting things

• You can edit or delete your own posts at any time. Deleting a post also deletes its photo, and it cannot be undone.
• The site admin can also remove posts.
• To change your name or email, get a new password link, or delete your account, ask the site admin. Deleting an account also deletes all of its posts.

Kids and teens

If you are a kid or a teen, use luos.fyi with a parent or trusted adult. Talk to them before you post, and tell them if anything online makes you uncomfortable.
